Making lightning-effect

This is quick tutorial how to make lighting-effect with Photoshop. Special thanks to my friend who helped me do this.

Thinks you need

Well I did this with Photoshop Elements 7 so every Photoshop after it should have all these components. I add some photos so you should be easy to follow them, but I also write some.

The work

First open your Photoshop, make a new file. Make sure that background content is white. You can do this any measures, but I did this small medium size. After this, paint whole canvas black

Second, make a new layer. We are using this to make lighting-effect

Third, select the created layer, open filter, go to render and add clouds. Don’t panic here when you realize that your clouds are different than mine. Every time you use this tutorial, you can make different lightnings.

Fourth, select created layer, open filter, select render and choose difference clouds. This adds more effect to clouds that they are easy to manipulate.

Fifth, before doing anything, select created layer and press ctrl+i . You have done inverse selection. Now go to enhance options, select adjust lightning options and levels.

Sixth, you should do this kind effect that white parts are visible, like a lightning in sky

Seventh, select created layer, go to enhance options, select adjust color and select adjust hue/saturation.

Eight, make sure that colorize option is on, then select color you want and accept. Is hould tell, that don’t over do saturation or the lightings aren’t so realistic.
